You Mean This One?

A Somali man with ties to al-Qaeda has been shot after breaking into the home of Kurt Westergaard, the Danish cartoonist who depicted Islam’s prophet Mohammed, in a “terror-related” act, the Danish Security and Intelligence Service said.

Police shot the 28-year-old and wounded him in the knee and hand as he entered the cartoonist’s Aarhus home armed with a knife and a hatchet yesterday, the service said in a statement on its Web site. He was then arrested and charged with attempted murder, the statement said.

Westergaard, 74, drew one of 12 cartoons of the prophet Mohammed published in 2005 in the Danish newspaper Jyllands- Posten. His drawing depicted the prophet with a bomb in his turban.

Good on you Terry for printing the cartoon. I am so sick of news stories about the cartoons that don't include the cartoons themselves. Your posting of it was NOT gratuitous, it was directly related to the story, and every single news organization that ran the story about the attempted killing should have included the cartoon. How these same news organizations have the nerve to prattle on about freedom of expression when they self-censor like that is beyond me. And obviously, it hasn't occurred to them that if every media outlet printed or ran the cartoon when appropriate, there would just be too many targets. What we seem to have is a weird internalized stockholm syndrome.
