Killing The Hostages.

1. At least 75 people were killed today when a suicide car bomber drove his vehicle onto a field during a volleyball tournament in a Pakistani village that dared to oppose the Taliban.

2. A roadside bomb on Friday killed five people including an anti-Taliban tribal leader in Pakistan's Bajaur district, the focus of a military operation to quash insurgents, officials said. It is the latest in a string of killings of respected tribal elders who have allied with the government against the Islamist extremists.

3. Pakistan's main Taliban faction on Wednesday claimed responsibility for a suicide attack that killed 43 people at a Shiite parade in Karachi.

4. Five people have been killed by a roadside bomb in a region of western Afghanistan under Taliban control, local police said on Friday. The incident happened in the province of Badghis yesterday, provincial police chief Sayed Ahmad Sameh said, adding the dead were two women and three men.

5. A horse-drawn cart carrying explosives blew up Thursday night in Kandahar, killing eight people and shattering the city’s still-tentative efforts to recover from a devastating bombing earlier this year.

6. The death toll in two bomb blasts at a busy market in the centre of Pakistan's second largest city, Lahore, has risen to 48, police and medics say. More than 400 people have been killed during a string of attacks mounted by Islamist militants in recent weeks.

7.At least eight people have been killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, officials say. The blast happened near a hotel in Wazir Akbar Khan district, home to several aid agencies and embassies.

8. CALGARY -- Michael Louie spent his "entire life trying to find Michelle Lang," only to lose her to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan this week, months before they were to marry.

"Long Live The Taliban."

But surely these acts are not committed by the same people whom our Opposition Parties are so worried about being mistreated or insulted while in Afghani hands.

This story, bombing the sports field, has to be one of the most sickening in a long line of disgusting acts.

Please don't anybody tell me the Taliban are "human beings too and have rights".
