Here's another bit of good news: http://www.embassymag.ca/page/view/spreading_democracy-2-18-2009.
That is good news. We're two years behind, but what the hell, at least it's coming together. I was for it when the Parliamentary Committee tabled its report two years ago and I'm for it now all the more.
We will be called "imperialists," of course.
I can't help but wonder if the Globe would have printed Jonathan's piece.
The gnus mediums are full of surprises. Last weekend, the anti-Taliban rally in Toronto occurred on a slow news day a short cab ride from each of the big dailies and TV news hqs, but it was ignored by all but the Toronto Star.
The Afghan people are very beautiful and unique in appearance. Utterly amazing to see the diversity in pictures of the nation.
I wish the news media were full of more surprises more often.
Most of the time it feels as if the narrative is always already set in stone and the role of the journalist is merely to pencil in little variables.
